Telephone number - what does a plus sign (+) in front of a telephone number, in the UK, mean? |
Answer: it means you dial 00 in place of the +sign. 00 is used to dial an international phone number from the UK. What will points do for me? i dont understand as I dont know about it? What matters is educational information being passed on as being more important. With a mobile number, you'll normally find a + before 44 then the number. On your mobile this indicates which country the mobile number you are calling from is registered, isn't it the international cose for the UK? You wasted 5 points by answering your own question? why have you used up 5 of your points when you've answered your own question???? it means zero Not just the UK but anywhere in the world it signifies you should dial the number for IDD (Internationa Direct Dialing) and then add the country code then area code (with the first zero, of applicable, left out). In these days of Mobile phones all you need is the + then country coda and wherever you are it dials direct. I should point out that your answer is correct but not complete. If the number is a UK number and you're calling from within the UK, then the + is there for international users. For the Brits, what it means is to add a zero at the front of the number before dialing. |
