Telephone harassment - How do I confirm who has rung me if their number is withheld? |
Not so long ago, I was receiving a lot of calls from a a particular person [now the subject of a criminal investigation for harasssment]. He would ring me from his mobile [number showed up] and from work [number withheld]. I phoned Vodaphone and they say they cannot obtain either the withheld numbers from my mobile or the calls to my mobile which although not withheld were stored on the phone at that time but not answered [the mobile phone stores numbers but they are automatically erased when you get more phone calls]. I just had a blazing row with Vodaphone and they were so rude. and essentially telling me they would not do anything. James I am not with BT . I am with Virgin Media also I am not talking about silent calls to my home phone I am talking about my mobile phone. Why would BT harassment unit get involved with Vodaphone silent calls? contact you service provider and they can do it even with silent numbers. but you might need to keep records and have a police statement or two for them to be able to help you., Contact your local police station, they can get the phone company to track it. Report it to BTs Harrasement Unit, and they can both trace and block the call. They will also provide statements to the police regarding the caller. They are very good. im not sure about mobiles but BT can set up something that blocks a witheld number from calling your home. i cant remember the automated message they get but its something like....please redial without withholding your number. The police may need to get involved. I believe they have a special device that can de-cypher the with-held number. According to the list on the site below, the provider of 07976 is Orange. contactyouur service provider for information then go to the piolice well only da police can trace no. not ppl anyway report it 2 da police. Report these calls to the Police. As you already have a criminal investigation in progress they can issue a request to Vodafone for the silent callers details. Keep a note of the dates and times they happen and pass the information onto the Police. If you want to change your number contact Vodafone and tell them you wish to change your number due to harassment which is currently being investigated by the Police, they will arrange a new number for you. |
