How do I check if my telephone line has been tapped? Do I inquire with my telephone company first?

reason asking is because whenever I'm on the phone with my mom, we always hear weird beeping sounds, as if someone is pressing buttons on the phone. She claims it only happens when she's on the phone with me. We know for sure it is not either of our call-waiting beeps. Only serious answers please...no rude or offensive responses. Thank You!

you could be getting crosstalk on your phones. something could be wrong with the lines between your place and your mother's which could cause other people's convos to cut into yours. i would have you and your mother contact your phone carrier and explain the situation and have each line looked at to figure out the issue.

the lines in the house where you check them. They aren't perfect,
but they'll indicate most simple bugs.

of you would have something that plugged into the phone
that would take your speech and encrypt it and decrypt it

unless you are talking to terrorists you have nothing to wory about it is probally a faulty connection the phone company will have to fix. believe me if your phone was professionally tapped you would never know you would hear no noise.

To back up danchono, it sound like you simply have a crossed pair. Usually this trouble comes through as static. However, sometime the short between the lines can be clean enough that you can hear what is occuring on that line. Call your local repair number for you telephone company. They will run a test on you line.

To be honest, if someone had the ability to tap your phone, I doubt they (or the phone company) would ever willingly tell you about it. I suggest you borrow a phone from a friend and hook it up to your phone line. See if the beeping still occurs. If it does, contact your telephone company and formally complain. If it doesn't, I suggest replacing your phone.

it could be that your lines could be crossing over to someone. I use to hear people all the time.

i would call the phone company but not on ur phone cuz if there is a tap on it they might hear it so use a friends or something jus not ur phone tat u think the tap is on
