I think I was just scammed by telephone. How can I find out. I gave my ck acct.#.?

I received a phone call stating my name ws selected for a Gov. grant giveaway,$12,500. each year. I gave my # He said they couldn't withdraw without routing #. SS# etc. I thought about it later, called the bank & they said to call police and to change my acct.# tomorrow. 4:59pm They gave me a "gov. ID #" and an address in Florida. He had a ""confimer?" call me back in 5 min. and had me answer yes to this & that. He said I would get paperwork in 3-4 days, and the money within 15 days. They said $59.95 would be taken from the money but not my acct. He gave me a confirmation(?) number but I think I didn't use my good sense & got caught up in it. How do I find out? I have name, address, Id#, con.#. I'm not sure how much money I had in my account right then, not much but couldn't use my bank card an hour later, but don't know if I had enough to cover it, but how do I find out if it is a scam?

You'll probably find out the hard way. You alerted the bank, and (assumedly) the police, so at least you covered your bases.

In the future, it's good not to give that kind of information to anyone unless you are positive of their identity. (Usually this means it is a well-known corporation.) Unless YOU initiate a transaction, you should be suspect. Nobody calls you up out of the blue to give you money you never asked for. Life SHOULD work that way, but it doesn't.

This is very likely a scam. Change your bank account number, and good luck. I'm rooting for you, but be prepared to be let down.

Don't do it again you can lose all your account money

I have no idea! Sorry! that probably does not help you!

it is
use ur common sense
were in debt
why would u get grants?!?!

Dial *69 and see who answers, hurry!

If your bank is good, they would have deactivated your account.

Try to remember any details you were given over the phone and;
1.call police
2.search the internet
3.inform any and all pertinent entities your social security number may have been stolen.

Next time, remeber, the government will not call you to give you money. They only call when you owe them.
