6.What is the chief difference between the IP addressing scheme and the U.S. telephone numbering scheme?

Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me with this question? I tried to think about it alot but I couldnt come up with an answer. Hope someone out there can explain an answer. Thank you

Basically ... the IP scheme is mostly based on what network devices (subnets, masks) you are associated with ... the latter digits are arbitrary & for internal identification.

The telephone scheme is mostly based on what geographic location you are in. The latter digits here are also arbitrary.

In another way of describing it... Telephone numbers are geographically allocated, whereas IP addressing is more topologically allocated.
