What do you say?

When you answer the telephone? We were having a discussion at work today, of what "greeting" say when they answer the phone

Sorry I meant to say your home phone or your mobile...we were laughing at the way someone answered their mobile and that is what got the conversations started

I went through a phase of saying 'Bonjour' but i stopped because well it was stupid frankly.Now i opt for the far more outrageous 'Hello'

Hey? (if i know the #)
Hello? (if i don't know who's calling but i am expecting an important call)

I always say my name.

It depends on whether it is a work phone or a home phone. If it is a work phone with an outside line calling I say good morning/afternoon. the name of my company, my name, and ask how can I help you. If it is a work phone and the person who is calling is someone I know I say hello. If it is my cellphone, I just say hello.

I rarely answer my own phone, but when I do...

Good Morning *name of company*.

Wait for them to speak and ask them who and what they want and then transfer them if the recipient wants the call. If not, then I will give them an excuse and ask them to call back later.

i just say hello and if its a telemarketer or a bill collecter then i can just say wrong number if its a relitive or friend then i will say hey whats up after the hello

"Heaven, God speaking!. Do you want me to book you a cab?."

I say.....Go

Hello. No matter who it is. Unless someone is calling "right" back. Then I may say something different like...what took you so long? or some such.

Usually just say Hello. If it's my younger brother sometimes I say Speak - as a joke.

My bros answer phone message tickles me all he says is Leave a message.
