Who keeps calling my phone with the word unknown?

Somebody keep calling my phone with the name unknown and I called the non emergency number and that didn't help so what would be a good thing to do. Every time I answer the telephone to say hello they hang up. Nothing shows up on my phone bill. Who is this mystery caller and what do they want with me?

it won't be on your phone bill because they called you, not the other way around. You can get the phone company to block private numbers, but that may not completely help. I have long suspected that this type of call is computer generated for mass calling operations where the computer calls you and transfers you to a telemarketer if it detects a live person, and disconnects when it gets an answering machine. -obviously it shouldn't hang up if you answered so I'm thinking somebody makes a mass calling program with bad factory defaults. I would call your phone company to see if they can help you, maybe with a selective call rejection feature, or unidentified caller feature.

this happens on my phone too. don't know who it is. just ignore them.

Could be anyone.. Unknown happens normally from out of state long distance. And or a blocked number from a different local carrier.. And also It could be more then just one person and or Business. I get unknown when Telemarketers and bill collectors call.
