My fiance's parents dislike me, and complain to him about it. What should I do?

His mother will answer the telephone and hang up on me without saying a word. She keeps him busy so we cannot go out. We are both adults but live with our respected parents because we are only 18 and 19 years old. I have never really met his parents but they do not like me. What should I do to improve how they feel?

Just to let you know he doesnt get annoyed at me becasue they dislike me he gets annoyed with them. I just dont want to cause tension

It's good that your boyfriend doesn't get mad at you, but at them. In all seriousness, though, be prepared for a lifetime of this. I've been with my husband for 17 years (married 14), and his mother STILL tries to cause problems between us, control what he eats/wears/drives...it's insane.

The best advice is to be on your best behavior around her, but to realize that ultimately, even if you develop a civil relationship, in her eyes you're still going to be the "outsider" who took her son away. Once you're married and have set up your own home, provide a united front and don't give her the power to cause the two of you (you and your husband-to-be) to argue. Best advice I can give.

Just be yourself around them. There's no need to try to be someone you aren't just so they'll like you. If you are a nice, polite, and lovely person altogether then they have no reason to dislike you and they are the ones that look bad.

Think long and hard before you marry him, it doesn't get any better. I have been with my husband for 8 years and I can count on 1 hand the times his mother has called or come to our home.

we r in the same boat here! well my mother says she wont touch my brothers or my kids! so thats what she wants! get married move far away and ask GOD to bless you with many children and dont let them touch them! but dont hate them!honor thy mother and thy father!it happens all the time! when grandkids roll in BOOm theyre all over ya...so dont let them touch them!tell your guy to!

They are probably resistant to you getting married so young. I would be. I'd try to talk to them about it. An approach like, "I love X (fiance) so much and I really want to be a part of his entire family. You guys are very important to me." And go from there. I watched this one show where the mom hated her daughter's fiance, so he want undercover as a blind date and talked to her about it and then reveled himself. She was a bit put off, but realized it must be really important to him to get along with her, so she opened up. Your parents-to-be may just need a little kick in the pants.

Also, your fiance should ask them to at least show some respect for the love of his life. Keep trying. If they still don't seem to give in, it may be good to rethink the rest of your life with them...

Your fiancee needs to have a chat with his parents. You have to be united or you can kiss this off. Think long and hard about how this will effect your relationship because things won't get better and putting kids in the mix will make things more tense.

they probably don't like you because your fiance made the decision of marrying you only after a year of dating and they think that you are both too young to get married during this day and age. best thing for you to do is wait a couple of years because you're still in the mind set of thinking like a kid, wait until you're 25 or 27 to make the decision to marry him again. you marry your fiance you marry his family.
