Should I trade my needy Labradoodle for a more independent self reliant dog?

This dog follows me everywhere.
I get up to go to the WC and he is right there. I go to answer the telephone and he is 30 cm away. I have renamed him Shadow.
I sit to have a vegemite sandwich and there he is at my feet.
i have told him to get a life and play with the other dogs but he refuses.
Sometimes I put him outside as it is hard to get housework done as he is in the way. He just wimpers.

i like the name no he just loves you thats what you expect when you get those kind of dogs it may be creepy at times but his will is to please and love you

"trade" him??? That is kinda mean!! Maybe YOU are the cause of his personality, and another dog would end up just the same.

and you should'nt "TRADE" your dog. thats cruel.
the dog acts this way BECAUSE you taught him too.
Or because he's young.
If you think the dog is too needy you really dont need a dog.

The dog thinks you are not self relient to be left alone. He's stuck with you.

Honestly, I think that you can do better than that. If your lad is irresponsible and lazy, maybe he sees an image that causes him to be like that. You need to teach him how he can be looked upon and train him to be a "good boy". Dogs are "mens best friend" right? so teach him how to play that role. Dont give up on the poor little creature.

i don't think you should trade him. he just loves you. one think you could do is give him lots of attention and love on him a lot and maybe he will get tired and think you are annoying. if that doesn't work than just ignore him or go to your room every time he comes around. good luck.

no, you should have gotten the right dog in the first place...you cant just go trading you dog its not a baseball card. by the way the reason he wont leave you alone is because he loves you and he wants attention from you

That is so mean, your dog loves you thats why it follows you around. You dont deserve to have such a nice dog if you cant appreciate it. you should either try and become a better owner, or you should look for a home for it, that the least u can do for the poor dog. dont give it to a shelter cause they might kill it, and that dog does not deserve that

More than likely, you made him this dependent on you, and the same exact thing will happen with your new dog. But if you don't love your dog enough to work through this and train him out of it, then perhaps you should find him a good, loving home and continue on with your life...sans pet.
