How can I REDUCE daily DISTRACTIONS?

Telephone, Internet (Yahoo Answers), TV, Video Games, Food, Exercise, etc...these all eat up SO MUCH TIME!!! How can I reduce these things so I can get more WORK done?

Well...food and exercise are necessities. Turn off the TV, the PC, hide the videogames. It's all about time management. Set aside a specific time of day to do the things you don't need to do, and make it after your work is done.

go to the library

clone yourself.

Simple. Each of those items has a switch that turns them off. USE IT. See how easy that is. Now don't turn them back on.

If you are talking about workplace distractions, there might not be much help as this distracted state is declared "more productive" and you'll be pissed and moaned at for "not multitasking well" if you bring things up....but....

It might be a *very* good idea, depending on how well and closely you work with your team and/or immediate supervisor, to try to arrange it so that you do NOT have to deal with technology above and beyond a land-line telephone and a watch for a week or two. Really. See if you can't arrange workarounds for the computer, cell-phone, email, IM, Blackberries, yadayadayada, and try working for a week the *old-school* way offices used to work pre-internet. Insist on doing business face-to-face or in a live phone conversation whenever possible. *Find* someone to delegate the techie stuff to if you have that authority....

Try doing your work in an old-school, "Amish office" sort of way for a week and see if the break or downtime helps any.

If it doesn't....you'll need to arrange a vacation, preferably ASAP, to the wilderness, somewhere with as little needed tech as possible. As in "no phone, no light no motor-car, as primitive as can be," *lol*.
