Why do spouses call their significant others at work so many times every day? |
I have 6 bosses and 15 lines on my telephone. My company wants us to answer the surrounding phones if the people sitting closest to us are away from their desks. The wives of 3 of my bosses (and a few others here also) call them at least a dozen times a day and I'm not kidding! We have caller I.D. so the names are displayed. At first, I asked around to see if maybe they had a sick or elderly person at home that would warrant a lot of phone calls but none of them do. They are all young people, 30-ish. Can't these wives make a decision for themselves without calling their husbands so many times during the day? It is so distracting when trying to concentrate on your work. I don't know why they do it, but as a receptionist I find it very annoying when every other call is a personal call. We even have a backdoor number where they could go directly to their extension. Instead, they bother me every five minutes. That's crazy...there's no reason for that many phone calls...geesh! Great question, great observation. because they could either be new at the marriage thing and it would just be normal. either that or they just want to make sure their husbands are not cheating on them or just being stupid tell them there in the pub ! my case is completely opposite. I'm a stay at home mom, and every now and then my husband calls me 10 times a day. he is not the jealous type, and i don't give him reasons to be. he says he misses me, i call him if i must but i guess we just enjoy talking to each other. My wife does that when I'm at work...it drives me nuts.. I agree.....I know when I first moved off of the production floor (where I had no desk, phone, etc) into Sales, where I have desk, phone, direct lines, etc....my wife would call all the time for stupid things like, What do you want me to make for supper? I think she just liked the fact she could reach me at anytime....I took a while to get her to stop....I think some wives just dont' realize how distracting it really is. Especially when its for things that could wait to be discussed over the lunch hour..... I doubt that they call because they have trouble making decisions for themselves. Some people just like to keep in touch- I call my husband or IM several times a day and he does me too. because they miss them well if its you boss their is not much you can do about it and sounds like you just need to take a message and not worry about it(after all you are still getting paid for it anyway). my husband calls me a lot at work and i do call him but as long as it does not interfer with my job and my boss doesn't care. what difference does it make. their is nothing wrong with having a happy marriage sometimes we don't have time to talk much at home with the kids and our different work schedules. What about the husbands calling their wives at work 100 times a day--it's not just the women, honey, it's the men, too! You have 6 bosses? |
