Cordless phones and their friend, the battery...How long do they tend to survive?

Dear Yahoo-ers:

I currently own a Vtech VT2421 Refurbished telephone. If you have currently own this telephone or know anything about it, please answer this question and get 2 points. If possible, include information like how long they last, etc. Also, please tell me how long a regular cordless phone battery last and if Vtech is a reliable company.

VTech is one of the leading companies for home cordless phones, and their products are good quality. Properly used (and not abused), a cordless phone battery will last a few years, the handset even longer.
