Trouble with sleeping....?


My anxiety is driving me up a wall! I can't spend one day away from my Mom (unless I have unlimited telephone access to her and she answers every call). I am beginning to dislike sleeping over at my Dad's. I really want to stay with my Mom at nights, but then I'll eventually begin to miss my Dad. What do I do? (If you haven't noticed, my parents are divorced)

You sound kinda compulsive about keeping in touch with your Mom. Sometimes OCD (obsessive compulsive disorders) can be caused by a blood sugar imbalance (believe it or not). Are either of your parents, or any of your aunts, uncles or grandparents diabetic? You may want to read up on blood sugar imbalances and decide if you might have one.

you need to not think about the act of sleeping as where youyr most comfortable, but where you lay your head.. maybe your just not tired enough to fall asleep. try getting really really tired and then sleep. whether it be @ 11 or 4 in the morning. don't even go to bed until you are really tired, because if you go to bed and you know you'll just stay up, then you'll feel sad feelings and thats not good.

kids tend to navigate to the female parent more as that is the one who did most of the upbringing =but don't forget Dad =after all he's a pretty good guy and usually he is the one you can get some extra things or advice from

Your anxiety is normal in the circunstances you are coping with.
What you need is some extra stress relief technitques to help you cope.
Try the one of the following (maybe one each day to see which works better):

1) A warm bath tube with buble bath, under candle light and listening to your favorite, slow and relaxing music, just before bed.

2) Strenuous exercises before going to bed.

3) Learn how to do meditative prayer. There are websites that teach it. Do it just before going to bed.

When im having trouble relaxing destressing and going to sleep i take herbal tablets called Valerian. It contains Valerian root and passionflower which help you relax and be calm. I think they have helped me alot in regulating my sleeping patterns again. You can also burn oils such as lavender and ylang ylang can help relax you as well. At least give them a go and if they cant help you at all maybe you should have a chat to your doctor?
