Does it sound like he is really ready to get married?

My boyfriend asked me to marry him tuesday. He says he's in love with me and it's the right thing to do. He's asked me repeatedly since then and I haven't gave a sure answer because he's asking over the telephone. I haven't seem him in nearly two weeks because he left to go to Indiana and it took him the longest to come back. He came back monday night and I still haven't seen him. He calls me but when I call him we rarely talk long. He;s always busy. And he doesn't even return calls sometimes. but he calls me and tells me he loves me. I just don't understand how come he doesn't try to see me. I asked him could we talk about the marriage thing face to face and he just said ok. But when I asked when he didnt answer and I tell him I want to see him all the time and he never comes see me. But he keeps saying he wants to get married this weekend. I just don't understand whats going on? Do you?

He doesnt sound like the right man to marry according to what you said. First of all, the right man would NOT ask you to marry him OVER THE PHONE!!! ... hes obviously not that serious about it.

and marraige is a big thing, and these days so are divorce... DONT rush things at all and dont everr be a divorce statisctic..


what you shud do to know that hes serious is to get a promise ring. tell him that for a year [hopefully your not having sex] but for a year tell him that your not gonna do anything sexuall with him..

this is a really big test and if he ruins it, by cheating or leaving or anything, then DUHH hes not the one.

and then after the promise ring year then you can get engaged.

marraige is really serious and its for the rest of your life ... DONT mess it up ... and dont be afraid to go to EXTREMEEEE measures to see if this person is really the one..

Something happened when he was in Indiana. Don't even consider marriage until you talk face to face. He is trying to use you to cover something up or protect himself from the results of something he did.

That sounds really really fishy dear!!! I'd definitely want to talk to him face to face and more importantly WHY THIS WEEKEND??? too fast dear, what's the rush? don't you want a wedding???? NO??? maybe??? i'd certainly want to talk to him in person b4 i made ANY decision.

Wow - is he dying? Is he being shipped out with the military and are you pregnant? Perhaps he has the feeling that he has been cheating on his religious beliefs and someone told him he should marry you right away! Don't you want a nice wedding with some family there and some plans made? I wonder what the hurry could be. I think you need to discuss this with your family, too and see what they think he is thinking. Maybe he would explain himself to your father or mother! Maybe he has done something he thinks you will hate him for and he thinks if he can marry you before you find out, you will not leave him. Maybe he is going to take a new job and move and he wants you to marry him and come with him. Maybe he has found a job where they would expect him to be married, rather than dating.
He certainly owes you an explanation and he needs to set aside some time - like an entire afternoon or evening - to sit with you and explain what has put this idea in his head all of a sudden and think about whether you want to go along with it or even if you should! It could be he just thought about the brevity of life and was lonley in Indiana and decided he really loves you and wants no one else! But he should be sharing that with you so you can see his vision, too.

first of all, you're already doubting his proposal. marriage is a huge thing to go and you know that for sure. Something this big should be done accordingly. A couple who's talking about marriage doesn't happen on the phone. Don't be fooled. Let him prove it. Good luck!

He loves you, but not in love with you. How long was the relationship? Did you pressure him? Sounds like when you get married he will take you for-granted. BUT to propose over the phone is lame. As a man, I would like to see your face light up and say "YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!" but that's me. If there is no passion..... or not even a sincere effort......what is the point?!!!!

How long have you known this guy? How often do you see each other? I'm getting the impression that you two don't generally have a typical relationship in the sense of talking/seeing each other most or all days, but correct me if I'm wrong.
His behavior seems really bizarre to me. His words are inconsistent with his actions. Why would he want to marry you but not see you? Why is he too "busy" for the woman he supposedly wants to marry? Why did he disappear to Indiana for so long?
I'm getting a bad vibe here. I feel like there is something about this guy you don't know about. Sorry for the brutal honesty, but I'm sure you'd rather know before you marry him.
