How do I answer questions or call from recruitment agency?

I'm recent graduate and have been looking for jobs lately. When I received calls from recruitment agencies, I was asked about myself, my work experience, my preferred working places, etc. Should I treat those questions as if in the telephone interview? Why are they asking those questions again since they already have my CV? How should I answer those questions in the best way?

Thanks for any advice

Your first answer is correct, the truth is always easier to remember, some one once said "you need a very good memory to make a liar"
Now having said that you must always bear in mind that employment agencies are there to make money, not to help you, (that's just a bye product) they are paid for supplying workers to suit requirements asked for by the employee, simple as that! The agency will go out of their way to make sure you are seen in the best possible light, they have even on occasions re written my CV, So don't be afraid to ask them for any help you may need, they are not employing you, they are just trying to 'sell' you on.

just answer them with truth.
if you want you could treat them as practise for the actual job interviews by answering as if you were in an interview, it wouldnt hurt right?

I believe they were conducting a telephone interview. Following is a few pointers on how you can perform a telephone interview from Collegegrad.com.

Three Types of Telephone Interviews

There are three basic types of telephone interviews:

You initiate a call to the Hiring Manager and he or she is interested in your background. The call from that point forward is an interview.

A company calls you based upon a previous contact. You will likely be unprepared for the call, but it is still an interview.

You have a pre-set time with a company representative to speak further on the phone. Also an interview.
