My childs friend has taken my belongings?

I feel I am in a really tricky situation and would like some ideas of how other people would handle the situation. My daughter often wears my clothes and shoes which I had no problem with until now. However one day when my daughter had two friends staying over for the night they bullied her into loaning one of them my boots and several items of my daughters. I was really annoyed when I found out and punished my daughter for loaning out MY belongings. the problem now is I cant get them back. I asked my daughter to call the girl and she made numerous excuses not to return the boots. So I decided to call her mother. It does not seem to matter when I call she never answers the phone( caller ID). I telephoned the girl and asked her to get her mother to call me. Her attitude was appaling. her Auntie then got on the phone saying I was accusing her niece of stealing, I had never said that! She then kept repeating "You want to sort your self out!" I still have not got my boots back .

It's getting all emotional and no-one is talking about the shoes anymore.

My advice: Put your emotions on hold. Completely.
Focus on the shoes. Remain polite.

Look at it from their (distorted) point of view: They think you accuse them of stealing.

Their kids will (100% sure) have told their parents a different version of events.

That's not true, but that IS what you need to address.

Perhaps you can write them a letter.

Don't try to explain all the unimportant details of who borrowed what to whom. It does not matter at all.

Write something like:

Sorry for the terrible mistunderstandings; my daughter borrowed some shoes to your daughter. She was not allowed to do so. I am very sorry for the misunderstanding and the inconvenience, but I would like my shoes back. Could you please see to it that the girls return my shoes?


Something like that. Get off the high tower, apologize for the misunderstandings.
The point is: the emotions are now in the way of solving the problem. Saying 'sorry' eases the resolve of the other party and helps to bring things to an end.
Of course you're not wrong - you're only saying it to close the case.

If you want both apologies AND your shoes back, you'll still be fighting in ten years time.

ok well if that was ur daughters friend u should have ur friend get them for u and then go to their place and talk to them and if u ever try calling again *67 will block ur number

Sounds like them/that little thieves/thief, probably made some excuse up or something to persuade their aunt. Go over to their house, or maybe contact the school or police. good luck with the boots :)

You should make your daughter go over there with you, and get your belongings. Oh, and don't allow that particular friend to come over anymore.

since u now have problem of that girl returning that u cloth and her mother saying that you are accusing her niece of stilling your cloth forget about the cloth and make peace with them doe it will be too difficult for u but trie,and all so tell u daughter not give away your cloth to her friend except on your permission.
