I want to dial using my computer and use the computer speakers and microphone to talk.?

i want to be able to answer the phone and dial out without using a seperate telephone. my comp already has a modem, headphones, and a microphone. i do not want to spend any money that i dont have to so i strongly prefer FREE solutions. i am running Windows XP Pro

I got some call center software but i cant get the active line coming through my sound card which is my default sound device. It will only buzz the modem whenever the person on the other line speaks. It would work w/ a phone connected to the comp but that defeats the purpose of using the comp for dialing.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard rave reviews about Skype.

Check your modem software and see if a voice package was included. If not, you will need a voice modem program to be able to talk and answer calls on your computer. There my be a free package on the net. If not use a file sharing problem like Limewire, Kazaa or my favorite eMule and get one from there if you don't want to spend any money on software.

Skype, yahoo messenger and msn gives free VOIP.. in other words, you can use your speakers and microphone to talk free to another person who also has to have the same software installed in their computer. (Of course they have to have a speaker and microphone to).
Calls to ordinary phone and mobile phones are very cheap with skype if your friend does not have a computer.
