Landline phone through pc not using voip, but regular phone service? |
I am trying to find out if it is possible to connect a standard telephone with standard landline service to a pc and talk through a pc headset instead of the standard landline handset. I do know that you cant hook up your telephone to your PC because they dont use the same type of data, it would be inaudible like your modem ticking and beeping when you sign onto the internet. There is software you can get that will answer your phone when it rings and may have some sort of automated prompt before picking up like a greeting, problem is those are usually used by companies with a T3 line or voip, I would try a software search for Computer Telephony Software or (SIP) session initiation protocol. that should get you started with your search for these types of PC communications. It may not be exactly what you want but it will get you in the extended network anyway. If you look up session initiation protocol in wikipidia there are all kinds of links to related software and terminologies that will help you research this. |
