How much is this divorce going to cost me?

I live in Maryland and am getting a divorce. How much do you think it wll cost me approximately?

He (my husband) stated that my daughter and I (not his child), have to leave his house in thirty days (my name is on the deed), or else he is shutting off all of the utilities (gas, light, electric, water, telephone). He already cut the phone off. Someone please respond with helpful answers.

i take it that the house is solely in his name, otherwise he doesn't have the legal right to do what he is doing without legal notification.

The house belongs to both of you. One can not legally throw the other out until a court decides who gets the house. Tell him you are staying, if he doesn't want to be around you, he can leave.

If he turns the Utilities off, what is to stop you from calling the Utilities and turning them back on in your name. He can't cancel them once they are in your name.

Don't turn the phone back on, go get a cell phone in your name. He can't turn it off and you have a means of calling someone in an emergency.

It sounds like you two are going to fight which means the attorneys will get all the assets of the marriage. Too bad, your share of the house, retirement accounts, etc. would help you and your daughter make a fresh start.

It will be very expensive, but you do have hope. Get an attorney let him or her know your situation and maybe they will make your spouse pay for your attorney. Until then you might see if the father of your child could take her in until you get this mess cleaned up. You might want to see about getting a private investigator to see if he is being unfaithful if he is being unfaithful this will not look good on him in the judges eyes. It will not cost you thousands. Trust me I'm going through a divorce myself, and although I don't have biological kids, my divorce is only going to cost me $249. There is a website that I will give you and you can check it out yourself. As for him kicking you out of your house...and your name is on the deed, he can't do that legally. Contact a lawyer, about that part. Yes, he turned off the phone, but call the phone company and tell them that you want the phone in your name, as well as the electric/water etc. DO NOT LET HIM KICK YOU OUT.

He can't legally kick you out, even if your name WASN'T on the deed and it is, so just smile and say good luck with that. Have all the utilities turned back on in your name and be done with it. Believe me, he will not get any court in the world to kick you and especially a child out of their house, they won't kick ANY of you out, unless he's abusive, they they will kick him out. If not, you will have to live with him until everything gets settled, unless he leaves on his own. Get an attorney fast and make sure the court knows he's threatening you like that. They will make sure he continues to pay at least his fari share of the bills, it's his house too remember??? His words will come back to bite him on the ***.
