If Americans are complaining about immigrants taking their jobs, why is ok for companies employ India?

There are a lot of complaints about immigrants taking the Americans' jobs. Why isn't there much controversy about the many 1-800 numbers that connect us with people in India and other countries? Many of which are hard to understand. Who know where peoplepc's customer service operaters are located because when I went through them and had problems I had to call 4 or 5 times and every time, someone with a different accent answered the phone. One lady did not seem to understand our common telephone ettiquet.
Anyway, these people are being employed by American companies which means that they have OUR jobs. The companies are looking for cheap labor. Should that be a big issue also?

There is controversy. I know someone who had to teach the foreigner who was taking her job what to do. It's rough up here in the Mitten, but how can one protest against something going on overseas when it's easier to protest what's going on at home?

After all, we need jobs here NOW. Illegal immigrants are taking away those chances. We also need the jobs overseas, but we can't be immediately affected by them (in terms of, if the owners said they'll come back, they won't be back for months or maybe years.)

Wow, such a great observation. I am not being sarcastic. It is a shame that we have these issues, but I have no solution. If they are legal, then so be it -- we are stuck with them. If they are illegal, then we should solve this problem. It wouldn't be that difficult to solve it, by the way. Just need some action. We are the USA, and we have solved harder issues than this!

There is. But the way I see it, is that the people in India doing those jobs are much more qualified than we are, alot of the people had to learn English and study our accents and were once doctors and lawyers!

To be fair, people complain about outsourcing to India as well. I hear people gripe about it all the time! Immigration is just a hot issue right now for some reason...it might have something to do with wagging the dog...

They aren't taking our jobs, unless these repubs want to work for $6,000 a year!!

They are used by people and big business to increase profits. Many are paid under the table.

What they should do is start fining the Employers, but the don't. I think they found 150 at Walmart. And of course they can't complain!!

The other is all outsourcing!! For the same reason, they don't want to have to pay for labor. Verizon and Norton are 2 that do that!

Sony doesn't because you can't get anyone there. No one home!!

The real problem is becoming that there are no real American companies anymore. I guess we are going to outsource the building of our weapons to China!!

I have yet to hear one American here or anywhere, for that matter, say they lost a job to an illegal alien.

It just doesn't happen, why? because they do the 'dirty' jobs no American wants to do. Stop saying illegals are taking American jobs, that's simply not the case.

When did you ever know of an American who wanted to pick corn in the hot sun for minimum wage and complain I lost a job because of that damn mexican?

Thank You, you said it the jobs are leaving america to other countries, but no one is complaining about that of course, because the empasis is being placed on ilegal immigrants, usa is beign sold out completely and no one noticed? how is it that we are blaming the ilegals, cheap labor is not in the usa as much as it is out of the country where no one can see and barely understand who they are dealing with and all we do here in the usa is complain about ilegal immigration? at least we can see who we are working with and this people spend at least some of the money they earn in this country and if we legalize them they will pay taxes and if we need to talk to these people we can even if we have to get a translator, but if we send the work out of the country we lose both ways they don't spend any money in the us and we don't know who we are dealing with so we can't complain to anyone if we don't like the serivce is to bad, they don't have the better business bureau in other countries.

It is funny how the americans will eventually lose what they think they are fighting for , someone is keeping their eyes shut and soon they won't know what hit them. sad, sad, sad.

you people need to get smart, yes america is great but, someone is getting rich and is not the ilegals, the republicans are and will keep laughing and making money while keeping you in the dark, I hate to say i told you so, but i will definatley say it. just for the hell of it.

And I would not piss them off too much they do handle all your food you consume tou know what happens when you piss off the cook at a resturant well they process food for the whole country.

Most complaints about immigrants are based on weeding out the bad ones and also public assistance. If you have illegal immigrants who get paid under the table and collect public assistance a big problem emerges, more tax money is being spent and less is getting collected.

As far as your Indian remarks, they are not stealing American jobs. If a company is Global, it is not so much American anymore. If you're a bank and do business and have offices in NA, Europe, & Asia, would you have someone do the same job in the U.S. and pay them 10 times the amount? Besides, It actually benefits us to do business with less developed countries for 2 good reasons.

1. Domestivc consumers benefit from lower prices (i.e. Wal-Mart).

2. The more purchasing power developing countries have, the more of our products or service they will buy (i.e. technology, banking, etc.).

Indians work = Indians get paid = Indians have more purchasing power = Idians buy U.S. products and services = More jobs and more money for Americans = The idea of globalization.

The key in economics is not to think in terms of good and bad but rather winners and losers. If we outsource jobs, consumers and businesses win, if we don't outsource jobs, wrokers win but everyone else loses.

It absolutely is a big deal. It is called 'outsourcing', and it has killed a lot of jobs domestically. However, it is not illegal, and it isn't immigration, so it is only occasionally discussed here.

Now that you mention it, however, I did read recently that the guest worker program would permit more of what is already going on in that regard. Bank of America (the article said) brought in Indian guest workers under existing guest worker quotas, and is having their American workers train them. When the Indian workers are trained, Bank of America is going to close down the domestic office and lay off the American workers. The Indian workers will open an Indian office.

In that particular situation, immigration is part of the issue.

Simple, there are more Mexican people doing it more than anyother nation's people. And the Americans are told by the Mexican Advocates to stuff their laws, and we want more, and we will just take it like we always have. This is the message that Americans have recieved from illegal alliens for more than thrity years. How many times do we have to give amnesty to any illegal alien in this nation, much less the greatest offender, Mexicans. Mexican's come to America bad mouth every part of their nation, and ours, then expect us to just want to hand over every thing we've earned. Illegal aliens say that they only work jobs that Americans don't want. What about the illegal alien arrested for working at MicroSoft, under a stolen Identification. This person never paid taxes, and the true identity holder was sent a bill for a little over two million. That illegal alien also owned stock in MicroSoft. Now, tell me what American would not want that job. Or, what about my friend that owned a small but successfull jewelry business, but because of Identity theft by another illegal Mexican Alien, that she had helped out many times. Racked up over a hundred thousand dollars worth of expensive jewelry, by using her identity to go on line and order it. Needless, to say she lost her business, and the only support that she had for her two children, and by working two jobs she managed to hang onto her house long enough to sell it for a much less expensive one.. Let me tell you her first name, and you tell me where she legally migrated here from ten years ago next month Her first name was Jaunita. She and her sister Esmerelda who was here on a student visa, and her two children ended up in the ghetto.
Now do you see that illegal aliens hurt everyone, and could eventually once established become subjected to the same felony acts that they imposed on others.
This is a two way street, and both are bad. America is losing it's freedom, because of illegal voters passing into laws, bills to give themselves more, and the American people less. I don't care if the illegal alien comes from china, rome, mars, or where ever. They are a criminal, and I owe them nothing more than what I have already given to their nations. Have some @@@LS, and make your country your own. That is what Americans did, and will do again.
