High pressure sales calls? Sellers acting in a nasty manner?

I am quite ill at the moment and has been to hospital several times these last few months but thankfully I am a little better now and well enough to start Uni on Saturday.
A few hours ago I got a knock at the door.I went to answer it and it was a seller from Halifax.He already knew my age and that I had been ill recently which was quite scary and wanted to sell me insurance against illness or something (wasn't listening properly).Anyway basically he kept on and on and when I said I wasn't inerested he wouldn't take no for an answer.I was getting freezing cold but because he wasn't on the telephone I could simply hang-up.After about 2 hours if not more of pestering I burst into tears and slammed the door.
I think it is disgusting to do that to someone and it has left me quite shaken.I have not signed up to anything but have a feeling this will not be the end of it.Surely this should be illegal?

Oh and he said "you would only pay 7 pounds a month don';t you think that's good value"
I said "yes"
Then he said"O.K I'll sign you up then"

He was horrible and I just hope he hasn't signed me up.

People from Halifax do not go to peoples houses how ridiculous.

However if this were to actually happen, try showing them that video you are so proud of, that would make someone leave you alone

I would put a letter of complaint in to the Halifax - the fact that you are not a customer does not prevent you from doing that.

I would also contact the Financial Services Authority and explain the circumstances.

That's because they have read your myspace profile and think you're willing to sign up for anything...
