2 Math Questions?

Please Answer.

1. A can of vegetables is 4.5 in. and has a diameter of 3 in. Find the volume of the can to the nearest tenth of a unit. Use 3.14 for pie.

2. A telephone pole is 30 ft. tall with a diameter of 12 in. Jacob is making a replica of a telephone pole and wants to fill it with sand to help it stand freely. Find the volume of this model, which has a height of 30 in. and a diameter of 1 in., to the nearest tenth of a unit. use 3.14 for pie.

PLEASE ANSWER THESE ?'S AND SHOW UR WORK!!!

V =pi * r^2 * h
#1
V = pi (1.5)^2 *4.5 (rad = 1/2 dimaeter)
V = 31.8 cubic inches

#2
V = pi (0.5)^2 * 30
V = 23.6 in^3

:)

1. Volume in cubic inches = 4.5 * 3.14 * 1.5 *1.5 = 31.8

2. volume in cubic inches = 30 * 3.14 * 0.5 * 0.5 = 23.6

1.) If 4.5 is the height of the can of vegetables:

Then the volume of a cylinder is (pi)(r^2)(h)

The diameter of the can was given, which means the radius of the can is 3/2

In this case the volume of the can of vegetable can is:

(3.14) x (3/2)^2 x (4.5) =31.7925 in^3

2.) V=(pi)(r^2)(h)

V = (3.14) x (1/2^2) x (30) = 23.55 in^3

[I don't know if you stated the dimensions for the replica correctly...so I'll just write out the volume for the original telephone pole as well]

V = (3.14) x (6^2) x (30) = 3,391.2 in^3

FOR A CYLINDER (CAN IS A CYLINDER TOO)
VOLUME= pi * radius of base^2 * height of the cylinder
in short

V= pi * r^2 * h
here, radius = (1/2) Diameter
so r = 3/2 in= 1.5 in
so V= 3.14 * (1.5)^2 * 4.5 cubic inch = 31.8 Cubic Inch

the next one is same thing.... It will be better if you try it yourself. Thanks
