Is anyone else being pestered by "B3N" (especially Nationwide customers)?

Twice today I have had cold calls from what appaears to be an Indian call centre claiming to represent a mobile telephone company called B3N (at least I think that's what they were saying, the lines were bad and their accents were quite heavy).

I'm alarmed to have been approached twice so quickly, and more so because I am ex-directory and subscribe to the Telephone Preference Service, so shouldn't get such calls at all.

I'm also alarmed because they were trying to ask me questions about by current mobile phone service, and as a Nationwide customer (and therefore one of the 11 million people whose details, including home telephone numbers, were recently lost on a stolen laptop), I'm aware of the possibility that it might be linked to identity theft.

Have other Answers users had similar experiences - and if so were you Nationwide customers?

Hi Brandie,

I be it was the same company. I told the second caller I was registered with the TPS and she asked me for my registration number with them so that she could update her records. When I told her it wasn't the sort of information I had to hand, she said she would hold the line while I went and got it! At that point I hung up.

I really don't know what part of "I will not be doing any business with your company or anyone who cold-calls me" these people don't understand.

Have had the same experience also from a call centre from India, am also ex-directory and also trying to sell contract mobile phone. In the end I got quite rude to the person as they were being quite pushy. I am not with Nationwide. I have not received anymore since I told the person that I considered it harassment and would be contacting oftel as previously I told them not to call back and take my number off their files.

no and I am a Nationwide customer.
