Box and whisker...?

i have some homework about box plots/box and whisker whatever you want to call them but i wasnt there the lesson before so i dont know what i am supposed to be doing.
the question is:

The number of telephone calls made to an office for each of 15 days are listed in order.

I need to
1ai) find the median
1aii) find the interquartile range.

i will be able to draw it from the values

To get the median make sure all of your numbers are in order from least to greatest, and they are (it's always best to order them that way no matter what step you're doing). Then find the middle number. I like to get two sheets of paper and start chopping off the first and last numbers. Here the median would be 26. If you have an even amount of numbers then take the two middle numbers and find their mean (add them up and divide by two)

The interquartile range can only be found once you have the median. Take everything left of the median and everything right of the median and seperate them. FInd the median of the lower set of data (stuff to the left of the median) and the upper set of data (to the right of the median). They would be 17 and 37. Now that you have the lower and upper quartiles (that's what you call 17 and 37) you can find the interquartile range. Takt the lower quartile and subtract it from the upper quartile (37-17) and you get 20, thats your interquartile range.

a) u can find the median by writing all these numbers in ascending order and then choose the mid value..
as in here the list is already sorted..
and there are 15 values.. so 8th value(mid value) is the median
therefore, the median is: 26

b) the interquartile range:

interquartile range = q3 - q1 = 37-17 = 20
