Do you think this interview went well?

I just had an interview for the position of customer services administrator at a building society.

(Only my second interview since college, i'm 19)

I arrived 15 minutes early, well presented and polite.

I personally think that i answered the questions well and thouroughly, but i was so nervous and this definitely showed!

I was shaking a bit so i put my hands on my lap, and maintained eye contact, but i could hear in my voice how nervous i was!

Do you think this could affect my chance of getting the job? I had a telephone interview before and passed it (that's why i had this) and felt it went very well, but a couple of the questions in this one i had to think about for a second or two.

But, after some of my answers the interviewer smiled and nodded?

The only thing is, afterwards, when the interviewer went to photocopy my ID, the lady who was just writing notes (not asking questions) said 'good luck'.....i've heard this is a bad sign?

Many Thanks :-)

'Da heckler' - You're so immature. And that's the words coming from a 19 year old.

A wish of good luck is just someone being polite. I wouldn't take it as a bad sign. In 10+ years of interviewing people, I've never said that to someone just because I thought they didn't have much of a chance.

It's normal to be nervous in an interview, especially when you haven't been on very many. And as young as you are, no one would expect you to be an "old pro" at interviewing. Follow up with a thank you note expressing how much you're interested in the job. If it doesn't work out, then you've build up some interviewing experience and the next one will be that much easier for you.

Ya went smooth good job but you never know what other people think. And that isnt a bad sighn its just a rummor.

I think it did go well. (Don't worry about being nervous - it just meant you wanted the job.)

Saying good luck was wishing you well, not a bad omen.

So go write a thank you note to the person who interviewed you, and hang in there.

don't worry so much! you did what you could, there is nothing you can do anymore to change the outcome. sounds like it went fine by me (I used to do interviews because I had to hire people) but honestly.... have a drink and relax. If you don't get it..;. better luck next time.

no, it sounds like she identifies with your situation and really wants to wish you luck. Probably because she likes you.

Sounds like you was successful to me.

I wouldn't worry about the lady in the front office she probably said good luck because she's hoping you won't replace her job lol. Just kidding all jokes aside I'd just wait and see sounds like you did good.

your reading too much into it. and no one likes someone who comes in overly confident..people like to see a little squirming...

It sounds like you did fine. Don't worry about it. The lady taking notes obviously doesn't have a say in who gets the job. That is why she said good luck.

You probably did very well. Remember, the interviewer had to be interviewed before he/she got their job. They know you're nervous - they've been in the hot seat before.

As for "good luck" being a bad sign - the lady was probably just trying to fill the silence by saying something.

Since you don't know the other candidates for the job, it's hard to know where you stand. You'll just have to wait and see. However, you can call them after a week and see where they stand.

It helps, too, to write the interviewer a short thank-you note for the opportunity to speak to him/her. It'll help you stand out in his/her mind and shows that you have initiative.

I think you did wonderful. Hesitation shows you weren't reciting from a script, and nervousness is normal. The lady who says "good luck" is just saying that to everyone. Don't worry!

You are 19, yet say that you're done with college. You are pursuing a position that it sounds as though you know nothing about. You mention that the interviewer smiled and nodded (probably thinking "gosh I hope this interview is nearly over because another answer like this and I will kill myself with a stapler").

Yeah, I think you may want to look into that plant watering position at Home Depot.

I don't think is a bad sign at all. Maybe she liked all the anwers you gave. I don't think they really care about how nervous you are at an interview as long as you know what you are answering and they believe you can do you job correctly, especially if you just finished college.

It sounds like it went well - I think most interviewers are used to people being nervous, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Next time, try to relax. I've been on A LOT of interviews and after awhile, they become less scary. Just remember, you're looking for a good fit. Just because you got an interview somewhere doesn't mean it's the best job for you. So, relax and be yourself. Don't worry about taking a few seconds before answering questions either. I think most interviewers would prefer that you put a little bit of thought into your answer. I don't think the lady saying good luck is a bad sign. In that situation, what else would she say? She probably wanted to say SOMETHING to you since it was just the two of you and awkward silence is well, awkward. Don't worry so much - you will find a job and hopefully, it will be a good one that you enjoy going to.

Good Job! You have probably gotten the job. Try not to be so nervous by imagining that the interviewer is a good friend that is sure to give you the job, but don't be too careless. As for the 'good luck lady', don't worry about that. After all, she's not the one choosing if you get the job. Hope you get hired!

It all depends. Many people are affected by interviews. A true potential employer should be able to see past your nerves and realize your character. There are a few things that will allow the employer to determine if you were a good candidate regardless of how nerves you were: Did you have revelant experience that relate to the position you are applying for? Did you display inteligence during the interview? You said you were dress nice, so that should help. To me, saying good luck is always good, it doesn't necessary mean its a bad sign and that the employer is not interested. Give it a few days, you never know.

look, i think if anything good luck just means that the person was being polite. Also, it probably went fine and u were just scared and it seemed like a big deal to u. PS- if u dont get the job and want to apply to somwhere else, then practice in front of the mirror, or ur friends to help u prepare. im sure ull do fine!! dont worry, and relax!!

It is only natural for interviewees to be nervous. I cannot tell you how many sweaty hands I have shaken when I interview! Good interviewers will recognize this and not use it as a negative. Maintaining eye contact, arriving early and thinking before answering are definitely positives. Answering questions slowly means you are putting some thought into your responses.

Don't pay too much attention to the note taker, it's not a bad sign.

Sounds like you did a great job.
