why spiderman(peter) don`t buy a cellphone?
Every time he phoned MJ (the girl next door)use telephone,use coin ,I know mobilephone is very normal, in china ,Almost every guy has a mobilephone .in high school,
DId American high school student take mobilephone ?

The comic was written long before the invention of cell phones (started in 1962). Rather than put cell phone in the movie, the director wanted to make it more like the old comic, so he did not do it. Instead of saying to the audience "I cannot afford a cellphone", it is not even mentioned, in hopes that no one would notice.

This happens a lot in cinema, when a book is written before a movie, or a movie is remade from years ago.

And many, if not most, people in high school take their phones to school in America. In fact, there are more and more young people taking their cell phones to even lower grades than that...

he's poor and using the payphone is easier but most people do have a cell phone

I am not a high school student but I think a lot of american high school students have cell phones. As for spiderman it might be because the movie is based on a comic book and the comic book is older, don't think cell phones were around when the comic book came out. Maybe they were trying to stay true to the comics.

its just one of those things that is weird in movies, here in america we have 9 year old children walking arround with cell phones so by the time we get to 6th grade ost every body has a cell phone, plus that movie was a comic book like 50 years ago and they didn't have cell phone 50 years ago so they are basing it on the time period

The reason why spiderman doesn't own a celphone is peter, the spiderman cannot afford to buy one. He lives independently and has to earn for a living.
Maybe, he can buy with his meager income, but peter realized that he might as well use his money in buying things which he needs most.

He does not have money to pay for it.
