Block credit collectors' calls?

I'm guessing my brother is missing his credit card payments and now they're starting to call the house at least 5 times per day... It's really starting to annoy me. It's getting to the point where they don't even say anything when I answer the phone, they just hang up... And I'm pretty sure it's them, unless we have multiple enemies with 1-800 numbers. I tried calling our telephone company and it wouldn't let me block the number, is there any other way out of this???

And the funny thing is, is that he doesn't really live with us anymore

Tell them that he moved but don't give his number if you don't them to bug him where he lives now.

So annoying isn't it! Answer the call and give them his new number and ask them to take yours out of there list. Say he doesn't live there anymore. Tell your brother to pay his crap and start giving the creditors his new number...

tell them he doesn't live there anymore and if they keep calling you will report them for harassment!

You need to have your brother call or fax them a letter to cease and desist calls and to only correspond by mail. That's the only way to stop the calls.

Have financial arrangements.

just answer in a different voice and tell them that they have the wrong number.... keep saying that on the collectors calls for a few days and they'll remove you from their list

I've tried it...worked

I know with my phone company you can do #60, but that does not work with all phone companies. Best bet is to change your number to an unpublshed number since your brother isn't paying his bills. Another solution is to tell them that he is no longer living there, and tell them if they contact this number again, you will report them to the FCC or file harassment charges against them. Its just something. Good luck, because I know how much of a pain it is.

Just tell them that -- he doesn't live there anymore -- and you don't know how to reach him. If you have an address, you might want to give it to them ... at least they might switch from phone calls to letters.

He doesn't "really" live with you anymore? What's that mean?
Does he have his own place? Does he have his own phone number?
If he does, give it to the collectors that are calling. And then calmly explain to them that since he doesn't live there, you don't want them calling the house anymore.
Good luck.

Call the numbers back and speak with a representative and tell them that he does not live with you, it may take a few times but eventually they will stop calling. Tell them you are harrasing them and will have to file a complaint if they continue, also make sure you call all of the numbers that call you. The guy who had our phone number before us 4 years ago gets calls to our house, they are very few and far between now but were horrible when we first got our phone. Good luck.

Pick up and hang up. There isn't really any thing you can do with out exhausting yourself. I just moved in September and received a new(recycled) number and I have at least 5 messages on my machine waiting for me when I get out of work. The problem is they are for three different people that no longer have that number. Collections, Daycare Providers, Sheriffs Department. I called yesterday to have my number changed, they put me on hold for who knows how long, I hung up. Happy New Year.
