How can i sort out AOL "tag on the line" problem?

i moved and kept the same telephone number
i placed a request to move the broadband. A couple of days later i got an email saying i had a tag on the phone line, so the order process failed.

AOL told me to call back in a couple of days when the tag would have been removed. i did this, they ordered the broadband again and once again it failed.

i called BT and the only product on the line was AOL, creating its own tag, they said they would not have been able to accept the request from AOL unless the line was totally free in the first place.AOL is still stating there is a tag on the line and until it is removed the broadband process can't go forward.

whenever i call AOL they tell me i have to speak to BT to get the tag off, when i talk to BT they claim there is no tag and that i need to talk to AOL and get them to ring BT.
I requested this and still no result.

what can i do about this besides terminate my membership?

what a problem, see if there is an ombudsman for the phones and contact them, they will be able to help and advice you. good luck.
