I posed this as part of an answer for another question, but I think it's worth posting here. That's simple - the nuclear scientist, of course. I have plenty of things that I want to achieve in life, so I want that bomb defused. I also want to use wisely the time available to me, in order to save other people that may be killed by the blast, or fallout (or does your ludicrous hypothetical situation have me in the middle of the Western Australian desert, miles from anyone?). Part of your point was that "theoretically" the bomb would explode, and that the scientist would have a "theory" as to how to deactivate the bomb. You clearly do not understand the concept of theory.
