Does any out there know how to down load a new copy of software for the 2wire523 wireless dsl modem.?

I am having problems getting a new wirlesss lap top to gain access to the web through the 2wire523 dsl modem. I keep getting error messages regarding the settings of the software on the host computer. I thinkjust a refresh of the modem itsself would do but I am not going to spend money with ATT to get an answer. By the way , I think it is a rip off for ATT to start charging for any type of on line telephone support. They have created a lot of problems in thir convergence process from yahoo to Att and I guess the charges are for all the extra people they have had to hire to keep up with the calls for support. Another ISP is beginning to look really inviting. Now that my frustration is off my chest can any help with my issue?

Logon to the software with your Admin account. The default page should automatically inform you if an update exists. To get an update, a module will download and install for you with the click of a button.

Regarding your other comment...
Do not cycle the power on your 2wire523... That will wipe out all customized settings. Yes, unbelievable but your router will be returned to factory settings and everything will need to be re-entered and re-configured.

I'm reluctant to post the toll-free number for 2wire support in a public forum but that should be available from ATT (It should also be on your install work order). As goofy as I think the router itself is, I give high marks to 2wire for their telephone support (and it's all free). If ATT won't/can't give you the number to 2wire, contact me (tonysu at su-networking.com). You'll need a valid account with ATT to get any help.

OK, I am not familiar with the 523. I have dealt with a lot of 2wires though.
Maybe this will help.
You must be connected via an ethernet cable for this to work successfully.
Open your browser, (internet explorer, firefox, etc.) and in the address bar, at the top of the page, type in:

http://home

If this takes you to the 2wire's internal software, you are on a roll.

In this internal program you can manage settings, WEP encryption codes, the works.

Caution: Changing the wrong setting may knock all your network offline. Read the program content carefully.
