Does anyone know which arm or the government covers age discrimination? |
I have been stitched up by HSBC and have met a brick wall from them. I left them about 5 years ago and was one of their top advisers with an exemplary record. I applied to rejoin them, got through all their on-line and telephone tests but was then turned down before I got to the Assessment Day which is not the agreed process. ie I was discriminated against. It can only be age (believe me) but now they refuse to answer my questions. CAB say I don't stand a chance if they haven't put anything in writing BUT THERE MUST BE A WAY. PS I know all about the investments made through them from Nigerian leaders. Could that have anything to do with it? Equal Opportunities Commission The Equal Employment Opportunity Center is the place to start a claim against a company for discrimination. Put all your information in the form of a narrative detailing date, time, who said or did what, why you believe you were discriminated against. They will interview you and if they think you have a valid claim they will have you fill out one of their forms detailing the discrimination. Then you will start the waiting. It will take approximately 6months to get an investigator assigned to the case. Once an investigator is assigned they will check out your facts by interviewing all persons who were a party to or witnessed the discrimination. So make sure to put down people who were present or aware of policy you believe was violated. Good luck. This is a free service the other alternative is a Lawyer. Don't know for sure, but what about Dept. Work and Pensions? or a good lawyer?? You need to go to the employment tribunal and claim under age discrimination. I've recently defended myself and won a case of sex discrimination. It's very difficult to prove but you can do it. Someone has to make a stand! |
