A stranger has gained control of my hotmail address and changed the password and secret queston, what can i do |
I have emailed hotmail and can't believe they don't run an emergency telephone line but i'm afraid they won't act on email til monday. In a chatroom conversation i let slip enough information for the hacker to guess my location and answer to secret question. First of all you shouldnt be giving out that kind of information. Secondly you should not have passwords that are so easy a stranger could figure them out. Third, it sounds like you are screwed my friend. If you do online banking and the like you should call your bank and utilities and any other business that you may have had confidential info in your email and tell them that your private info has been stolen in order to protect yourself from fraud. Be more careful in the future and set up another MUCH MORE SECURE email. Good Luck. Just close that account Sign up for a new account seems like the only option. i guess it's time to dump it, and get another email address, make sure to email all your important contacts in the change of address. Get a new hotmail address and new password and secret question that you know nobody else can get. nothing without the password, contact hotmail and have them close it for you Same thing hapnd to me. Still searching for an answer or a way to retrieve my id. I would contact MSN and see if they can help you out, but don't get your hopes up. Chances are you will need a totally new e-mail address. I like my Yahoo e-mail much better than Hotmail anyway since Hotmail decided to "improve" the system. Open a new hotmail and yahoo account and feed conflicting but completely bogus information about your bank details and credit card and boy/girlfriend addresses or fone numbers till you can shut down the account. The poor thief will not know which is or which isn't useful info. Can't really do anything. Just create a new account and inform everyone immediately to ignore and permanently block your email address. That happened to a friend of mine earlier this year. It too a week to get it sorted, he said that the hotmail people weren't that help full either. He ended up scrapping that account and opening a new one. The only bummer was trying to remember all the email addresses. Luckily he had sent me a funny email he had passed on to nearly everyone in his address book so I was able to write them down for him otherwise he would have been well and truly ducked!!! Good luck babes, I think your going to need it!! xxx tis ok, sign up for a new hotmail account using a similar sounding addy and password, but not identical. then change your proxy. send a false email to a made up account to any email account you can think of. in the subject bar write, re: my bank account details. before you do this see if you can get through to your isp! by phone and tell them what happened and if they can track the ip addy of the thief. you need to email hotmail customer support and get them to close the account or atleast suspend it. go and kill the stranger, if you cant do this then creat a new ID ok dear .........dont worry i am with youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu |
