Trouble connecting and still having to pay.?

When i connect to Answers i often get message saying 'Sorry Inernet Explorer cannot connect this sight' not always but most times, I'm paying over 拢45.00 pounds a month for a connection and it takes ages to connect, if I ask for help, BT tell me to go to Technical Dept but it costs so much on the telephone i'm thinking now of cancelling my contract. BT say i have a contract with them that i'm obliged too but i've never signed any contract so have i a legal basis to cancel

You've entered into a verbal contract and by accepting the equipment then you have also entered into the contract by conduct. (Similar to the idea of getting into a taxi. By your conduct you've entered into a legally binding contract even though there's been nothing written or said about the money.)

If you cancel the contract they will bill you until the end of the contract. (ie for a 12 month contract 拢12x45 which then if you refuse to pay they will cut your phone and threaten to take you to court if its worth it (and for 拢540 it will be). There you will have to explain that they've not provided you with merchantable quality service as they are required to do under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

I get little spells of having trouble getting on Answers but if you can get on the rest of the web, they will say that its got something to do with the website. Try finding other things to do on the web.

It's probably nothing to do with your broadband connection (拢45 a month by the way is a rip off - try http://www.zenbroadband.co.uk - much cheaper).
Try downloading Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com and forget Internet Explorer. Firefox is a far superior browser.
