77% Like McCain Proposal for Ten Town Hall Debates

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of voters nationwide say John McCain's call for a series of ten Town Hall debates is a good idea. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 11% disagree and 12% are not sure.

McCain has proposed that the candidates meet once a week in ten different cities around the country. The two men would answer questions from private citizens instead of reporters. Obama's home town newspaper has endorsed the concept as well. The Chicago Sun-Times wrote "forget about holding 10. Do 20 -- or more -- and get going." Ninety percent (90%) of Republicans support McCain's debate proposal along with 66% of Democrats and 80% of unaffiliated voters.

your phrasing it worng.. Obama says " yes YOU can.". he's not planning on doing anything other than raise your taxes.

So is the question, do we on Yahoo Answers agree that they should have debates or was this just to inform us of how many feel that they should have debates? Well, I guess they should have them, although I don't know what else we need to know about their proposals on the issues. It would, possibly, be good for McCain, we haven't seen too much of him, it has mostly been Obama & Clinton!

Where did you get the impression that Obama said no? He simply isn't obliged to jump when McCain calls. If it was Obama making the proposal then McCain would have every right to think about. You're grasping at straws in an attempt to slam Obama based on absolutely nothing.

I think Obama should do it. I doubt Obama has that many working for him.

My 72 step dad has CRS and so does McCain so Obama should have no problem (CRS=can't remember sh!t) showing the natiion how inept McCain is.

I would certainly prefer the debates done in a town hall setting where the media has nothing to do with the questioning.
