Is it possible to view the history of calls on any telephone?

I am writing this essay about a robbery, and I wonder if it is possible to check the history of calls, particularly the last, on any telephone?
I am having a robber fleeing from the police, and when the police get to his house, he wasn't there, but on his way on a taxi to wherever.
So I want the police to check the history of phone calls of the telephone which was in his house (I do not know if this is possible yet, so please answer) and found out that he called a taxi company and ordered a taxi.
And then the police ask the company which taxi was ordered to take the culprit from there, and on and on and on.
So please help me, I want to know if it is possible to to check the history of phone calls.

The redial as suggested above is a good idea.

I have some criticism, but maybe you have covered these points in your story. If he was fleeing the police why would he have a cab come to his house? Why not have the cab pick him up away at a mall, bar, church, any place away from the house.

Also the police would need a warrant to get into the house. That would be time consuming.

Yes if they hit the redial button on most modern phones, it will recall the last number called.

You can view the history of incoming with caller id but not outgoing.

Or, police can get the list from the phone company but that takes more time.

Not without a warrant or subpoena. The phone company can't release records to just anyone.
