Help me with this math problem.. (probably easy for you)?

Troy's job consists of filing, typing, and answering telephones. He spends 1/6 of his time filing and 5/8 of his time typing. What fraction of his time does he spend answering telephones?

Thanks in advance!
I will choose a best answer :]

Well first get the fractions to have the same denominator, so multiply each by the GCF (greatest common factor)

4/24; 15/24

Add the two together.

19/24

Subtracts from 24/24 which equals 1, since it is 1 job

24-19=5

Answer: 5/24

so you need to add 1/6 and 5/8 together then minus from 1,
therefore:

=1/6 + 5/8 make denominator the same
=4/24 + 15/24 now you can add together
=19/24 now subtract this from one
24/24 - 19/24 = 5/24 <- there's your answer

5/24
