2} The students of a school were asked to participate in a competition for making and decorating penholders in the shape of a cylinder with a base,using cardboard.each penholder was to be of radius 3cm and height 10.5cm.the school was to supply the competitors with cardboard.if there were 35 competitors,how much cardboard was required to be bought for the competition?

1. circumference divided by 3.
= 2蟺r (2 x pi x radius) / 3
= (2 x 3.14 x 20) /3
= 125.6 / 3
= 41.867 m or 42 m (if rounded)

2. area of circle + area of rectangle x 35 ppl
= 蟺r虏 + (length x width) x 35

length of rectangle = circumference = 2蟺r
= 2 x 3.14 x 3
= 18.84

going back to the main formula...
= 蟺r虏 + (length x width) x 35
= (3.14 x 3 x 3)+(18.84 x 10.5) x 35
= 28.26 + 197.82 x 35
= 226.08 x 35
= 7912.8 cm虏 or 7913cm虏 (if rounded)
