Help with this physics Problem?

An AC adapter for a telephone-answering unit uses a transformer to reduce the line voltage of 120 V (rms) to a voltage of 9.0 V. The rms current delivered to the answering system is 440 mA.

a) If the primary (input) coil in the transformer in the adapter has 240 turns, how many turns are there on the secondary (output) coil?______Turns

(b) What is the rms power delivered to the transformer? Assume an ideal transformer.

Turns ratio = N

V(in) 梅 V(out) = N

120 梅 9 = 13.33

240 turns 梅 13.33 = 18 turns on secondary winding


For an ideal transformer, power in = power out

Power out = 9 volts x 0.440 amps = 3.96 VA = 4 VA
