How did telephone solicitation survive the innovation of Call Display?

I know SO many people now who won't answer their phone if they don't recognize the number. You'd think that would kill phone solicitation outright but it hasn't.

no!! they still keep on calling...because there always lonely ppl out there who just love to talk to telemarketer!!

my grandfather for one just loves to talk to them. Everytime I come home he is on the phone talking their ears off, many times they( telemarketers) are hanging up on him!!

I never pick up the phone unless I know who is calling!


but many will use virtual (spoofing) number to trick you into picking up the phone by mistake!

Most telemarketers show up as either "Incoming Call", "Out of Area and "____ Call"(___ =state).
But some peoples jobs are to solicit from their homes. Therefore, homes show up on caller ID.
I personally pick the phone up for everything but a company's name.

Because there are many of us that still answer, I have many people with private caller as ID that I do answer. The solicitors also use that method.

Yes, and I've also noticed that this so-called "Federal Do Not Call Registry" is as effective as predicted. I've reported a couple of telemarketers who were calling me repeatedly, but I've heard nothing as to whether or not they were fined. But, they did stop calling, and overall I haven't gotten near as many calls since signing up. I'll leave the link below, and you can register up to 11-different numbers, I think? After signing up, you stay on the list for 5-years. However, non-profit organizations can still call. www.donotcall.gov
