How far would you go to get into college?

I'm a freshmen in college and know that getting in is hard. I am a current Stanford student and a member of a student group that promotes social enterprise. We are participating in the Innovation Tournament at Stanford (http://eweek.stanford.edu). Our project is to create "value" through giving honest college advice to high school students. Basically, we want to know:
1) Why do you want to go to College?
2) Tell us something interesting about yourself or what your dreams are, and how college can help you achieve them.

We will select several responses, and either through a telephone or video conference, answer any question you may have to the best of our abilities. We got into the college our dreams, and want to help deserving students do the same.

Be an engineer at U of I.

1. I want to go to college in hopes of getting an excellent education, which I believe in turn will lead to a better than average job position at a nice corporation. I also believe it is an integral part of one's life, no matter how smart or dumb you are.
2. My dream is to get into Stanford (no joke, it really is my dream school) and get an Undergraduate's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or maybe Mechanical Engineering. I want this degree so I can go to work at Lockheed Martin (maybe even get into the Skunk Works). I love designing airplanes and it's what I want to do for the rest of my life. College would help me get the good education I need to get a position with Lockheed.
