Would you eat 10 rubber bands to get into your dream college?

If you answered yes, then you probably are interested in college. I am a current Stanford student and a member of a student group that promotes social enterprise. We are participating in the Innovation Tournament at Stanford (http://eweek.stanford.edu). Our project is to create "value" through giving honest college advice to high school students. Basically, we want to know:
1) Why do you want to go to College?
2) Tell us something interesting about yourself or what your dreams are, and how college can help you achieve them.

We will select several responses, and either through a telephone or video conference, answer any question you may have to the best of our abilities. This is NOT a joke; we got into the college our dreams, and want to help deserving students do the same.

I'm sorry if my intentions were miscontrued with the poor question heading, but we are real Stanford students who are connected through our dedication to social entrepreneurship and giving back to the community.
We know there other barriers preventing students from getting into college that we currently can't alleviate, but we want to do something. We appreciate any constructive feedback to further our social mission. Thanks!

No and this is my reason: I was accepted to 7 out of 8 colleges that I applied to. The one I wasn't accepted to I was wait listed so I was still accepted just not for the starting time I wanted.
Mohawk College did accept me, that is my dream school however I found out I was accepted the day after I had moved to British Columbia from Ontario where the school is. I go to St. Lawrence College instead.

Okay well im in 9th grade so I still have a while before thinking about college....

sereously..i probably would...im a sophmorein highschool that lives in the second most miserable town in country...yahoo even said so(stockton,ca)...there is absolutlly nothing to do in this town and i fell in love with palo alto when my grandpa was in the hospital....i drove through stanford because it was pouring rain last month.

i am a sophmore in high school and have a 3.2 gpa and thats pretty average...im ranked 165 out of 500 something in my class...i play sports mostly water sports, which are swimming and water polo although i want to get involved in lacrosse and rowing. i am also involved in linkcrew and soon to be in conflict mediation next year. i wish i was involved more...maby i should join key club and french club

one of my dreams are to be a pilot, my family grew up in the airline buisness and i love every thing about it...traveling, meeting new people and seeing the world while im still young and able to

i am also good in science and i love it,but math isnt one of my strong points allthough i would like to become a scientist or a doctor or maby a lawyer

college will hep me achieve these job requirements because you dont know law or how to do a hip replacement when you get out of highschool, it takes years of school to help you learn these things

i might also want to do sign language(asl interpreter)

but most of all i want to go to college because i want to get the best education i can get and so i can get a well paying job that i can support a family off of. the average person makes a million and a half more dollars than someone who just has a highschool diploma. i also want to get out of my boaring town, there is nothing to do here, it kinda feels like when your grounded and every one is watching you and you feel trapped and uncomortable, because every one in this town is watching you, security gaurds following you, constantly being board and not wanting to go any where because security gaurds are watching or cops stop you for nothing. i also want to experience life outside my norm,and people say your best years are in college and i want to experience it, i mean i am a hard worker, but i also want to have fun,becayse i was the geek in school who everyone picked on for being smart(even though im not that smart) i constantly felt like i was a turtle trapped in a shell and thats where i would hide but my friends helped me through my rough times.

i realy like stanford, its in a beautiful town and has such a beautiful campus, you guys are so lucky to get accepted in such a wonderful school, allthough i doubt i would get in because im not smart enough, but hey i will apply and see what happens
