What is the most efficient way of making a tin can/paper cup telephone?

please answer?

Two cans, six meters of thin string,
clean out cans, make a small hole
at the centre bottom of each, thread string
through, attach a small button to string
ends, one person to each can, keep
string taut, and chat.
With a paper cup don't pull to hard
and try cotton instead of string.
The buttons act as a diaphragm.
