ICount yourself lucky for missing his lame speech. I have serious doubts that I would be eligible for my husband's GI bill money.

My husband was active Army for 4 yrs, went to Korea. He is Florida National Guard (still is), sent overseas in 2003 for a year and a F*G half. I was already having serious mental health issues at the time (I am an R.N., licensed in FL), we lost a baby that year, half way through the pregnancy. The Florida National Guard, and ultimately, the Army, did NOT CARE. My husband also hurt his knee in Korea. THE VA DID NOT CARE!!! We paid out over $2000 of our own money JUST THIS YEAR to have my husband's knee fixed for a second time, because we can't get the VA on the telephone.

WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU?????


I couldn't get appropriate Mental Health Services, my husband couldn't get ANY services after he returned home from "War"

Sorry for yelling. I'm still angry at this "President" who has done nothing but let myself, my family, and my Country down.

People usually give their vote based on emotion or ideology, not reason. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Your husband's case, on the other hand, is another rmatter.

I honestly don't get why people blame the president so much for all of their problems. I mean, sure, the country is in a little trouble, but heck! We are so much better off than so many other countries. And the president can't do just any old thing he wants to. He's got people telling him what to do, trying to persuade him to do what they want, and he's got to go with his conscience, too. He doesn't have total control, and it's not like he KNOWS what's going to happen before he makes a decision. You make mistakes too.
I'm sorry that you lost your baby, and that your husband got injured. I'm engaged to an Army guy, and it sucks how they're treated by the government. The whole world is greedy, and they're just trying to keep as much money for themselves as they can. Wouldn't you?

you and your husband not getting the health care you need has anything to do with the president. He did not create the current mess with the VA. Your biggest problem is trying to get anything done with the VA on the phone. You have to go to the nearest facility, get a case officer assigned to you.

I am military and don't seem to have any problem getting taken care of. If you wait around for them to come to you,
you'll be waiting a long time. If you like the idea of gov't health care, just remember this experience.

By the way, the VA has nothing to do with you unless your husband received a medical discharge or a discharge with at least 30% disability. The fact that your husband is still in tells me you are barking up the wrong tree. You need to work through his unit to get the medical care you and he needs. The VA only comes into play when he no longer has military status.

well, it happens sometimes. Do you know most of our troops died from Infections that they did not care? if any of the troops got infections or got too much wounds, they never give them attention. One of my Friend joined the Army and he was shot on the chest. They left him in the dessert and returned when he died.

I went to sleep during The speech, which was a good thing because I didn't need the anger I would have felt watching it. I'm so sorry about you and your husband, and sure you are not alone, unfortunately. The VA has been amiss for years at helping our veterans. I have several friends from the Vietnam era who don't receive what they need. Bush and his war mongering has used up our soldiers and then just discarded them as if they were as if they were dolls. I support our soldiers but do not support there war. I live real close to Fort Riley, Kansas and can hear and feel the field exercises, which just makes me feel " there they go, training more to fight this unwindable war, " My neighbor retired after 25 yrs. in the army and was in Korea for a year--it cost him his marriage. I have a friend who's husband has don 2 tours in Iraq. Stay Strong an hopefully the election will help, but Washington are so far removed from the common man, that I fear we are the Evil Empire.
