What is it like when CAFCASS come to visit?

Hi there

My partner and I are expecting a visit from a CAFCASS officer over the next month or so as he is applying for his access privileges to be upheld by the court and possible full custody of his children.

I am a bit worried as I have no idea what kind of person they will send, how many people,what they will ask, what they will want to look at etc. Also I don't know if they will telephone us first to arrange a time and day, or will they just turn up?
Will they want to see me, as I am just his girlfriend although we live together?
We don't have anything to hide. I just would feel better knowing what it was all about.
Anyone else been through this, or know what it's all about?

Stop worrying, they are not monsters!

They will look at your home to see if there is room for his children if they stayed. They ask ALOT of questions to you both as you live there too about what you can offer the children, your jobs etc. I don't think they will turn up without telling you first, they do not operate like that. They will also do police checks on your both.

All they want is what is best for the children, they are a a good bunch
