I work a telephone job. When I tried to call in their system is down. How long would YOU wait?

How long would you wait before you gave up trying to dial in? I have used all three phones in the house and my cell and it is on their end.

Should I wait for them to call me to start working .... it has already been a half hour that I can't even get into the system.

Do I owe it to them to work the shift? Should I just go to bed and not answer my phone.

Am a bit ticked as this has happened before and they called like 1 hour 45 min into after the shift should have started and said go ahead and try logging in now...

Well, if you're getting paid for you're time keep calling in. If you're not getting paid then i'd be saying your time is much more valuable than that. You don't work for the fun of it - you work so you can pay bills and live and such. They can't expect you to sit there and wait for them to get it together unless they are willing to pay you for your time in doing so. If i were you tonight, i would try for no more than 2 hours - every 15 min or so. After that - then it is off your shoulders. You tried and tried hard. They need to appreciate that. Then find out if you're getting paid for the time you waste waiting for them to do their jobs. jmho. Good luck and i hope they are paying you for it. :)

That's a tough one! Do they not have guidelines for this?

I wouldn't just go to bed, I'd keep trying at least till halfway through the time you're suppose to work, at that point I'd give up. Oh and don't work for free!
