Fax question?

Does sending and receiving faxes with your own fax machine cost money? I DO NOT have long distance. I do, however, have dsl. Also, can someone please tell me why I would connect a telephone or an answering machine to my fax machine? Thanks.

If you don't have long distance plan with your phone then they will charge you based on pay per minute. You can google to get free fax service. I don't see any reason why you need to connect your phone and answering machine with your fax.

Yes, if you send to a long distance #, it WILL cost you. But someone sending to your fax machine will not cost you. I don't know why you would want to or need to put a phone on your fax, or an answering machine for that matter.

You may want to try Efax. Go there and look into it.
