Just because i am conservative doesn't mean i agree with Bush!?

I am not happy with some of the choices he has made, and we do not share all of the same views, but at least we don't butt heads on everytopic!

and he hasn't done much for oil prices, but what could he really prevent! we all knew this was going to come eventually, it just happened to occur while he was in office.

If mrs. hillary would have been in office when this occured, everyone would have hated her as well, same with obama, or even gore.

I know this is not a question, but I agree with you. I consider myself a Conservative, but not necessarily a Republican. I believe in small government, individual and states rights, lower taxes and higher self reliance and less reliance on the government. I believe stability in the Middle East is good for the world, and sometimes those things are worth fighting for. I believe we should be less dependent on foreign oil and exploit our own natural resources. I also believe that Bush has failed us in the educational arena. I don't think that 'No Child Left Behind' is a success. But I also believe that he did as good as anyone else could have, or better, under the circumstances. I hate to think what would have happened to this country had Al Gore been President after 9/11/01.

That's certainly true but the problem with conservatives is that they are too cheap. You cheap out in the front but end up paying a lot more in the back.

Save a nickle today but pay $10 in the future because problems were brushed aside.

There is a lot of waste everywhere. We need to get rid of that. Why are companies wasting money on lobbying???
It's in the billions, not per company. But some companies spend millions on lobbying.

Look at all of the money that is spent on political campaigns. It's ridiculous. We need that money in other areas.

I just found a cat that was apparently left behind by someone due to a foreclosure or something. It didn't make it. It was in horrible shape. Conservatives are absolutely to blame because they don't want to spend any money. They back people into corners when they should be helping. We all get affected by it.

You're entitled to your choice. It's Mrs. Clinton and Bush is being blamed just like Carter was, it's not fair but it happens to both sides. I think it's important to notePresident Clinton left everything in great condition and Gore didn't win (due to electorial college).

Yes, but you won't get through to the lunatic left though. They think that Bush is hitler, that he's making ALL the money from oil, and that everyone who is conservative wants to lick his boots and is a religious nut.

I'm conservative. Why? Because I follow the philosophy and thinking and ideals of The Founders. Liberals want to move away from that ultimate expression of freedom and equality for people, even though they won't admit it.

I am not religuous - AT ALL. I am pro-choice (men have no right to be anything BUT pro-choice).

But as soon as leftists hear "conservative" they automatically place you with Jerry Fallwell and company, and think that you secretly drink crude oil for a late night snack.

The part that kills me is that - The Office of the President of These United States DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER to affect prices of a commodity in a free market economy. The MOST he could do is call all the oil CEOs and beg them to reduce their profits - and promptly get laughed at. Or ask congress to pass a law. But he can NOT force anything to happen. It does not matter WHO is sitting behind the desk in the oval office.
