Tips on how to deal with coworkers who interfere with my personal life? |
One older lady coworker of mine (we share the same office) used to be extremely nice to me. I learned a lot from her and I definitely thought she was a great person. She has a daughter who is stage 4 breast cancer patient who is still going through chemo therapy. My coworker tried to set me up with her daughter, but I declined. I am a single father, and I focused my attention on my kid for the past several years, but now, I am dating this wonderful lady whom I am head over heel in love with. My coworker noticed changes in me (I seem to be happy all the time), and I told her about my lady. She seemed to be very happy for me and told me "It's about time for you to find somebody." lunch break, and whenever I have a chance, I looked at my girlfriend's pictures on the computer. Lately, coworker has been making comments like "Oh, you got a phone call again." "Oh, you sure do get lots emails don't you?" Yesterday, she left the employee's manual on my desk hinted that I have not been doing my job right. Man. That's a tough one. Perhaps you should just confront her (it sounds like you two have had a good working relationship for a while) and let her know that if you did something to upset her you apologize. Then let her know that you enjoy working with her and would like to have the good relationship back. You kind of want to kill her with kindness, so to speak and open it up completely so she can't just run and hide and smolder. That way, you'll figure out what's in her mind, and be a better person for apologizing when you really didn't need to. How can someone not feel bad and make an effort to fix that? Good luck. Be afriend to her. Grow balls. |
