Is it time to call the Republican Party鈥檚 bluff?

I鈥檓 all in favor of protecting our natural resources and developing alternative energy sources, but maybe we should put something on the table that forces conservatives to show their hand.

Let鈥檚 give them the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR)鈥攚ith the condition that:

If there is not鈥擜S THEY CLAIM, an immediate, measurable, significant, and sustained reduction in oil prices and complete economic relief for the American people鈥擳HEN, they hand over (to the American people, as well as Congress):

(1) Every meeting account, report, email, phone record, note, and doodle or scribble on every piece of paper that has been shared or exchanged between the Vice President (and everyone ever associated with his office) and every executive of every petroleum-related business, corporation, partnership, or entity that does business in the US or that has ties to any other company that does business in the US; and

(2) There can be no Executive Office or legal protection from prosecution if it is determined that any US or binding international laws have been broken.

So, you're admitting guilt before we even get started?

You don't play poker much, huh?

I think I'd take that deal and I'm conservative. What would you consider immediate, measurable, significant and sustained, though?

You'll get no argument from me on the fact that republicans squandered their opportunity. They were a bunch of spineless wussies and they deserve to have lost both house and senate. I haven't seen much since then, though, either. Not much but a lot of talk, which makes me wonder what your side has in mind...? Obama says conservation, but China and India are not going to buy that.

I don't know if anwr would lower the cost by 1$ per gallon. Probably not going to find out.

I also agree that we ought to be able to begin drilling in a lot less than 10 years.

Where have you been!? Russia has already developed the necessary technology to drill in the north and south Arctic's.You can bet they will proceed with out conservatives blowing smoke up their Rear. It's not the exploration and drilling that hurts our natural resources. It's the American glut and greed, so willing to exploit the resources of others while consuming over 26 percent of the worlds source of oil.

Terry G

are U kidding? they would never agree to that. lol

they rely on these false red herrings to keep their false myths perpetuating to keep us distracted all the while they are milking us for all they can get. All the experts I have heard other than those who work for oil companies say that drilling in anwar or increasing drilling on our offshores....would not even make a dent in gas prices. the only thing it would do is increase oil company profits and keep us further tethered to oil and unable to wean ourselves from it.

You go first. Post all the crimes you have committed. EDIT: I admit to nothing. However, I do believe you are a self-righteous hypocrite.

The two sides of the argument have too little to do with each other, and to be honest the loss that they would sustain if their wrong is a lot more than the gain from ANWR. I honestly believe that they would never agree to it, too many skeletons in the closet.

I honestly doubt that Cheney set up our entire energy policy with the oil companies. More importantly, even if he did (or rather, especially if he did) he and the president would never agree to this. They would stand to lose too much. But it wouldn't reveal anything because they would write it off as a breach in the privacy of their executive office, which they would say should remain able to do what it has to to prevent national security from being compromised. I'm not saying your idea isn't a good one, it just wouldn't work that well without putting something else in there.

Party bluff, more like it.There is no demonstrable difference between parties anymore. Most people realize it.http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=3...
