It is interesting that both John McCain and Abraham Lincoln share so much in common, like it is McCain's destiny to share some of Abes shadow;
A. Both are great Republicans.
B. Both support a war that is un-popular.
C. Both have great character.
D. Both are very patriotic, wear the flag proudly.
E. Both have extensive public service.
F. Both are choosing to take the high road over moral issues. Lincoln freed the slaves, McCain refuses to bring racial slurs and comments into his campaign.
F. Both are men of great dignity and passion.
Given the times we face and the character and stability the Oval Office needs, how can we even consider a flip flop candidate who chain smokes and is influenced by radical left wing preachers spewing hate and vile racial and anti-semitic comments on television and radio?
John McCain is above all of that kind of hate and bigotry, he is a man we can trust, he has the resolve needed to steer our military.
McCain 08. And Lincoln was a LOYAL Republican, NOT a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT....
DEMOCRATS, you cannot use his name, do not slander him by associating him with your loser candidate...what a LIE. No not at all Lincoln was for freeing the slave and McCain voted and is still against acknowledging MLK Day. Your list is very flawed and full of delusions. i competley agree with you abe lincoln and john mccain are very similar. their only real difference is that abe lincoln was really tall and john mccain is a bit on the shorter side. I think they went to school together. What does chain smoking have to do with anything? I think they went to High School together.
Damn - Page beat me to it. Does this question come with a barf bag? I think Im gonna throw up. shame on u comparing lincoln to McSame as bush A.) The republican party of Lincoln's time is actually closer idealogically to today's Democratic party.
B.) except that the Civil War wasn't predicated on lies.
C.) That's your opinion of McCain. I agree that Lincoln has those qualities, but opinions are subjective.
D.) See "C"
E.) I can agree with this, but don't forget the keating 5.
F.) This one is a big strech. You're equating freeing the slaves to not using racial slurs against an african-american candidate? You're comparing polarizing decision to common decency. yeah...not buying it.
F#2...aka "G") See response "C" and "D"
...and please explain how being a smoker is detrimental to someone's ability to lead. Well there are some common points, but..... Lincoln did not hide his faith as mccain does. Lincoln did what was necessary to stop a threat to the nation, in his time it was the secession, today its the border which mccain wants to open up to anyone who can crawl across.
Lincoln would have never sided with the enemy by saying that their rights were of more importance that the protection of our own people. As mccain has done.
Face the facts, Mccain will not, can not, and he Shall not win.
I have been a republican for 40 years, and I can tell you today, I know of not one person who is voting for mccain, my self included. This does not mean we will vote for the Muslim, we simply will stay home. <<
John McCain is above all of that kind of hate and bigotry, he is a man we can trust, he has the resolve needed to steer our military.
>>
Is that why he said the idea of Martin Luther King Day was offensive?
<<
. Both are great Republicans
>>
Both are republicans.
<<
Both support a war that is un-popular.
>>
True, however the south attacked the north not the other way around. Compairing Iraq to the civil war shows a total disregard to america.
<<
Both have great character.
>>
No Lincoln stayed with his wife despite her illness. John McCain left his wife for someone young enough to be his daughter.
<<
Both have extensive public service.
>>
Lincoln was a lawyer than served in the house for 2 years prior to becoming president. Lincoln actually did not have extensive public service. No, they do not have those items in common.
A) McCain toyed with becoming a Democrat in 2001. As a Republican, he violated Reagan's rule about not opposing another Republican (President Bush, no less)
B) Lincoln opposed the Mexican-American War (1846), a war that was popular in his House district. McCain has never opposed a war.
C) Men of great character don't divorce their first wife.
D) McCain did not wear a flag pin at the recent NALEO conference.
E) Dick Cheney has a record of extensive public service. Ergo, Dick Cheney and John McCain have a lot in common.
F) In March 2007, John McCain used the slur "tar baby" in reference to federal government involvement in custody cases. He is also well on record as unapologetically using the term g**ks in describing Asians.
G) I suppose that's all in the eye of the beholder. First of all John McCain could even stand in Lincoln's shadow. These traits you've cited are not even valid.
A. Lincoln is great due to his conviction of freedom to all people and endured a civil war to fight was is just. McCain hasn't had such a challenge.
B. McCain has supported, not support, and supported the war.
C. McCain is subject to change. The man has shifted positions on every key policy. He has taken flip-flopping to a higher level.
E. McCain does has a long public service, but part of that is marked by the Keating Five scandal. He was an enabler for the biggest bank robbery in the history of the US.
F. McCain status on racial slurs has been "I can't be the referee in these racial attacks on Sen. Obama and his wife."
That's not taking the high road, it is say 'I don't want to be involved.'
F. On Passion, he is passionate on being the President is willing to change every policy he was against to be elected.
How can a man that was a POW, was tortured to the point that he still has restrictive movement, be against water boarding a year ago, but now he say it is not torture. Forcing a person to experience drowning.
On the issue of racial tolerance:
On the issue of the confederate flag that used to fly in S. Carolina, even he admits that he should have showed more courage to address the issue.
John McCain fought hard to not recognizing MLK day in Arizona. Arizona was the last state in the US to ratify the day as a national holiday.
Talk about selling your soul and dignity for a job. Abe Lincoln would have never behaved in any manner like John McCain. |
